XITE College organized U-19 Xavier Basketball Tournament 2023 for Boys and Girls from 13th to 15th August 2023. The inauguration of the tournament was marked by the symbolic release of a tricolor set of balloons. The event took place at the XITE Campus. A total of 23 teams participated in the tournament representing different states such as West Bengal, Orissa, Bihar, and Jharkhand.
All the XITE College fraternity meticulously planned and executed the tournament flawlessly under the leadership Fr. E.A. Francis, S.J., Fr. Mukti Clarence, S.J., Prof. Shailesh Dubey, and Mr. Vikash. The student volunteers lead by Vimal Barjo, Pitembar, Anil Jojowar, S..J., and Vijay Rayappa, S.J. committed to ensuring the success of the event. Fr. Sebastian Puthenpura, S.J., the principal of Xavier’s School inaugurated the tournament on the 13th. The matches took place simultaneously in two courts. The tournament was completed on time by conducting a few matches at night under the floodlight. The event concluded on the 15th and the winners were awarded with Cash Awards, Medals, Trophies, and Certificates.
The winners of the tournament: (Boys category) K.P.S. Kadma, (winner) Jamshedpur Basketball Club (1st runners’ up), & C.D.AA, Orissa (2nd runners’ up) and (Girls category) K.P.S. Kadma (winner), JAP1 (1st runners’ up) & East Singhbhum (2nd runners’ up). The tournament sponsors were Tata Steel Long Product, MS Enterprise, Amalgam Steel Ltd., Bhalotia Yamaha Motors, P.U.
