About Us

XITE College (Autonomous), Gamharia is one of the units of Xavier Colleges in India and abroad. These Colleges are founded and managed by the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) who are pioneers in the field of Education. The XITE College was founded by Fr. P.D. Thomas, S.J. (former Director of XLRI) and a member of the Jamshedpur Jesuit Society. The main objective of the College is to groom the youth of Jharkhand and neighbouring States both in knowledge and skill, and make them capable of understanding their responsibility towards nation building and good citizenship. Initially (2003) it was started as a coaching centre for the youth to help them get into reputed Business Schools and to qualify in various competitive exams, but in 2007 it began to offer degree programmes BBA (Bachelor of Business Administration) and subsequently B. Com. (Bachelor of Commerce Honors) and other programmes. Currently it is affiliated to Kolhan University. The College is NAAC Accredited and secured 2F Certificate from the UGC. The college has an online UG Students’ Journal “Vimarsh” with ISSN number which many colleges do not have.

XLRI, Tata Steel, the CTC Sisters, the citizens of Jamshedpur and the Government of Jharkhand are the partners and collaborators in envisioning and translating the vision and mission of the College into a reality. We inculcate in our students right knowledge and a reverence for the Divine, and uphold the social inclusion in every social and academic activity in our learning process. The College advocates the “Life Skill Education Model” wherein it imparts the education of Head, Heart, Hand and Health [4Hs]. All these are achieved through our dedicated team of faculty members, collaborators and co-workers. We promise to prepare each of our student with care, love and support and thus turn out men and women for others with human values.

XITE campus, having 34.5 acre land, is growing as the hub of academic and professional learning in the State of Jharkhand. The campus besides the College has Xavier School, XLRI-EDC, etc. as educational and training institutions and hostels for the College Boys & Girls. The Campus also has a canteen and a large playground with various sports amenities. The College provides additional facilities such as training in CAT, XAT, GMAT, Banking Railway, Tally, and other competitive examinations to its students. Thus, the campus is becoming a gamut of educational activities and imparts quality and meaningful education to all deserving students hailing from Jharkhand and its various neighbouring states. Geographically, the College is situated in Gamharia which is considered to be rural under Seraikela-Kharswan. The district has the presence of Naxal outfits.
