XITE Gamharia hosted Flame Fiesta, a vibrant celebration of Diwali, the Festival of Lights, on October 30, 2024. This festive event brought together students and faculty to showcase creativity and cultural heritage through various engaging competitions.
The festivities included four main competitions: Diya Painting, Lantern Making, Henna and Rangoli. These activities allowed students to express their artistic skills while honoring traditional Diwali customs. Principal Dr. (Fr.) E.A. Francis, SJ, and Fr. Edward Dungdung, SJ, Controller of Examinations, added a special touch to the event by reviewing the students’ creative works, offering words of encouragement and appreciating the participants’ efforts.
A panel of faculty members served as judges to ensure fair and thorough evaluations:

Rangoli: Assist. Prof. Susmita Choudhury Sen
Henna: Assist. Prof. Anjali Jha
Their expertise brought insightful feedback and an appreciation of both skill and tradition in each entry.

Second Place: Seteng and Sonali (BA English Semester 4)
Henna:
First Place: Malika (BBA Semester 4)
Second Place: Harpreet and Suhani (B.Com. Semester 1)
Lantern Making:
First Place: Shreya and Ujjwal Pandey (BBA Semester 2)
Second Place: Varsha, Arpita and Ragini (BBA Semester 4)
Diya Painting:
First Place: Varsha (BBA Semester 4)
Second Place: Jasmine (BBA Semester 4)
The event saw additional support from faculty members who were in attendance: Assist. Prof. Reetika Singh, Assist. Prof. Nidhi Kumari, Assistant Professor Dr. Rajesh Rana, Assistant Professor Dr. Swati Singh and Assistant Professor Dr. Radha Mahali, who is also the Cultural Club Coordinator. Dr. Mahali, along with Cultural Club members, played a key role in planning and executing the event.
Flame Fiesta was a resounding success, fostering camaraderie and creativity while honoring Diwali’s rich cultural heritage. The energy and enthusiasm displayed by students and faculty made this celebration memorable, marking Diwali 2024 as a truly special occasion at XITE Gamharia.
