Industrial Visit to CTC India Pvt. Ltd.: A Learning Experience for XITE Students

On 20th November 2024, 46 first-year students from the BBA and Commerce departments of XITE Gamharia (Autonomous) embarked on an enriching industrial visit to CTC India Pvt. Ltd. This visit was facilitated by Young Indians (Yi) Jamshedpur and organized by CII Yi XITE, with support from Dr. (Fr.) Mukti Clarence, Vice Principal of XITE.
The students were accompanied by Assistant Professor Reetika Singh and Mr. Ashish Singh, Nodal Officer, while Mr. Sourabh Khirwal from Yi Jamshedpur also guided the group. Upon arrival, the team was welcomed by Mr. Amit Nath Prasad, Deputy Manager at CTC, who served as the instructor and provided insights into the company’s operations.
CTC India Pvt. Ltd., established in 1983, specializes in manufacturing tungsten carbide tools for industries such as PCB manufacturing, Nail & Beauty, Automobile, and other Engineering sectors. The company operates two plants in Jamshedpur and one in Germany, with all machines imported from Germany. These high-end machines, valued at ₹1.5 to ₹2.5 crores each, ensure precision and quality in their manufacturing processes.
During the visit, students learned about the company’s remarkable growth trajectory:
From producing 10,000 cutting tools annually to over 20 million tools per year.
Product sizes range from 0.10 mm to 1/4 inch in diameter with various shank configurations.
80 different products are manufactured, primarily for export to markets in India, the US, China, Japan, SEA countries, and the European Union.
The students also explored CTC’s achievements in patenting nail tools for EU markets and its joint venture with Kyocera Group to introduce carbide inserts. The plant employs 400+ workers and leverages over 150 advanced machines to maintain its global standing.
This visit offered an invaluable opportunity for students to witness theoretical concepts in action, gain industry exposure, and understand the dynamics of global manufacturing processes. The visit concluded with a Q&A session, allowing students to interact directly with industry professionals and enrich their understanding of cutting-edge manufacturing practices.
XITE Gamharia extends its gratitude to Young Indians Jamshedpur, and CTC India Pvt. Ltd. for making this learning experience a memorable one.
