The Community Service Club of XITE Gamharia (Autonomous), led by Assistant. Prof. Amit Chaturvedi under the guidance of Fr. Principal Dr. E.A. Francis S.J., organized a meaningful and engaging candle-selling event on the college campus on 24th and 25th October 2024. This event not only marked the festive spirit of Diwali but also served as an impactful community service initiative, embodying XITE’s commitment to fostering social responsibility among its students.
The candles and other festive items sold during the event were crafted by the residents of the R.P. Patel Cheshire Home in Sundernagar, Jamshedpur. By sourcing these items from the home, the Community Service Club aimed to provide support and visibility to the talents of the Cheshire Home residents. The event saw enthusiastic participation from students, faculty and staff, who purchased candles and other Diwali items, lighting up their celebrations with products that carried a meaningful purpose.
This initiative was also an educational experience for the club members, as they took on the roles of buyers and sellers, learning essential skills in purchasing, sales and event management. The volunteers of the Community Service Club played an invaluable role, contributing to the smooth organization and successful execution of the event.
Through this candle-selling event, XITE Gamharia reaffirms its mission of instilling Jesuit values of compassion, community support, and practical learning in its students, ensuring that every initiative leaves a positive impact on society.
