Gamharia, January 30, 2025 – XITE Gamharia commemorated Martyr’s Day on 30th January 2025, paying homage to the enduring legacy of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation.
The ceremony was marked by a solemn assembly attended by the Principal, Dr. (Fr.) E. A. Francis, SJ, Vice Principal, Dr. (Fr.) Mukti Clarence, SJ, esteemed faculty members and the student body. During the event, a heartfelt flower tribute was offered to the statue of Mahatma Gandhi, symbolizing respect and gratitude for his selfless service to humanity and unwavering commitment to truth and non-violence.
Addressing the gathering, Fr. Principal emphasized the relevance of Gandhi’s principles in today’s world and urged everyone to incorporate his teachings of peace, equality and justice into their daily lives. The event provided a moment of reflection on the sacrifices made by countless freedom fighters who laid the foundation for the nation’s independence.
The commemoration also served as a platform to inspire the students and faculty to strive towards creating a society rooted in compassion, tolerance and non-violence, values that Mahatma Gandhi championed throughout his life.
