Gamharia, February 12, 2025 – In its continuous effort to promote sustainability and environmental consciousness, the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of XITE Gamharia (Autonomous) organized an Awareness Session on Waste Management on 12th February 2025 at the XITE Conference Hall.
The session was conducted in collaboration with Hulladek Recycling, an organization dedicated to e-waste management and Koru Foundation, which works towards building a sustainable and inclusive society.
Objectives of the Session:
- Generate awareness about the harmful effects of various types of waste.
- Educate students on sustainable waste management practices.
- Highlight the environmental and health hazards caused by improper waste disposal.
- Encourage students to contribute to a cleaner and greener society.
Expert Insights:
The session featured Ms. Sadaf Khanam, Program Coordinator at Koru Foundation and Mr. Deepak from Koru Foundation, who provided valuable insights into the real-life impact of waste generation and the urgent need for sustainable practices.
They highlighted the devastating effects of improper waste disposal, including soil, water and air contamination, and emphasized eco-friendly solutions to mitigate these issues. Students learned about various toxins released from littered and dumped waste, raising awareness of the importance of responsible waste management.
Student Engagement & Impact:
With 73 participants, the session sparked thought-provoking discussions, encouraging students to rethink their waste disposal habits. Representatives from XITE extended their heartfelt gratitude to the speakers and expressed keen interest in continuing collaborations with Koru Foundation and Hulladek Recycling for future sustainability initiatives.
