XITE Gamharia, in collaboration with CII Yi Jamshedpur, hosted a transformative workshop titled “Mind Matters: The Art of Being and Doing” on 14th September 2024. The workshop, conducted by renowned TEDx speaker and author Dr. Saroj Dubey, focused on enhancing mental resilience, well-being and unlocking the infinite power of the human mind. Dr. Dubey, author of Rx for Resilience, shared practical techniques to develop a mindful approach toward life’s challenges.
The workshop encompassed a broad range of insightful topics, including Presence of Mind, Happiness Advantage, Uncertainty, Consistency, Self-Compassion, Connection and Powerful Pauses. Dr. Dubey also touched on advanced themes such as Positive Neuroplasticity, Savouring, Creativity and the concept of being “Broken Open” by life’s difficulties, focusing on how such experiences can fuel personal growth. Each concept was meticulously explained to provide students and participants with tools to foster emotional intelligence, creativity and a balanced life.
Key Highlights of the Workshop
– Presence of Mind and Space: Dr. Dubey explained the significance of mindfulness in daily life and how creating mental space can lead to clarity, better decision-making and emotional regulation.
– Happiness Advantage: The importance of cultivating a positive mindset to enhance productivity and overall well-being was discussed.
– Power of Connection: The workshop emphasized building meaningful relationships as a key to emotional well-being and overall happiness.
– Powerful Pauses & Flow: Dr. Dubey delved into the importance of taking mental pauses and staying “in the flow” to improve concentration and creative output.
– Positive Neuroplasticity & Awe: The participants were introduced to techniques on how the brain can be rewired for positivity, encouraging practices that foster appreciation and a sense of awe for the small wonders of life.
With over 105 students from various departments in attendance, the session was deeply interactive, engaging students with practical exercises that helped them practice mindfulness, creativity and emotional resilience in real time. Students left the session with a fresh perspective on managing stress and uncertainty in their academic and personal lives.

The presence of distinguished faculty members like Assist. Prof. Amit Chaturvedi, Assist. Prof. Sushmita Sen Chowdhury, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sanchita Ghosh Chowdhury, Assist. Prof. Dr. Swati Singh, Assist. Prof. Akinchan Xaxa, Assist. Prof. Nidhi Mishra and Mr. Y. Dilip Kumar added to the event’s success. The Principal, Dr. (Fr.) E. A. Francis, SJ, and Vice-Principal, Dr. (Fr.)
