Department of Economics

The Department of Economics, XITE College, was initiated in 2020 and the first batch of
students graduated in 2023. The Department runs an Honours course in Economics. It

gives students an adequate basic understanding of the subject and equips them with

theoretical concepts, policy analyzing skills, and informationto process and analyze the

workings of an economy. This will enable the students to exploit newly created
opportunities in the professional field and prepare for higher education in eminent

institutions. The Department is led by Dr. Sanchita Ghosh Chowdhury, Associate Professor,

at XITE College. Dr. RadhaMahali, Assistant Professor, XITE College, and Dr. Rajesh
Kumar Rana, Assistant Professor, XITE College serve as Departmental Faculty. Currently,

the department is small in size with 18 students in all. Despite its small size, the

department is quite active. It continuously engages in various activities such as industrial

visits, departmental seminars, and workshops to enable its students with contemporary
skills and employability.
