4.5. International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples

Introduction:
The International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples was celebrated with enthusiasm
and respect to honor the cultural heritage, traditions, and contributions of indigenous
peoples, with a special focus on the tribes of Jharkhand. The event featured storytelling,
musical performances, a movie screening, and a vibrant ramp walk that highlighted the rich
cultural diversity of Jharkhand's indigenous communities.
Summary:
The event commenced with an Invocation of Ancestors, setting a reverent tone for the
day. Enock Topno’s Introductory Speech emphasized the need to preserve indigenous
cultures, followed by Fr. Ritesh Edwin Dungdung’s Welcome Speech, which highlighted
XITE’s commitment to cultural promotion.
Key Highlights:
● Storytelling Session: Led by Sarjan – The Literary Club, the storytelling session
immersed the audience in Jharkhand’s tribal traditions.
● Movie Screening: Thought-provoking films provided insights into the struggles and
resilience of indigenous communities.
● Musical Performances by Manual: Soulful performances brought indigenous music
to life, captivating the audience.
● Ramp Walk: This event celebrated various aspects of Jharkhand’s tribal culture, with
participants showcasing themes like Santhali traditions, tribal hospitality, and
spiritual practices.

■ 2nd Prize: Rishabh Deogam and Shreya Munduiya (BA English 3rd

English 1st Year)
● Food Stalls and Chain Dance: The event concluded with traditional food stalls and a
chain dance, fostering unity and joy.
