Industrial visits give the students a glimpse into the practical application of theoretical
concepts and provide a platform to interact with experts. This academic year, the students of
the Department of Economics visited Bhalotia Auto Products Pvt. Ltd. in Adityapur on 23 rd
April, 2024, where they were introduced to the economics of the brake drum production
process. This academic year, the Department also organized a departmental seminar titled

‘Decoding the Union Interim Budget 2024’ on 19 March 2024. The seminar's objective was
to help the students increase their awareness about the budget, its processes, the current
allocation determined through the budget, and the intention and justification behind such
allocations.Paper presenters also gave a comparative analysis comparing the current allocation
to that in the previous years and helped the audience visualize the nation’s desired direction of
growth. The department also organized a two-day Departmental Workshop on Data Analysis
from 30th November to 1st December 2023. The two-day workshop was designed to bridge
the existing skills gap in data management, providing students with valuable insights and
practical knowledge. The Department invited an external expert, Dr. KumariAnamika,
Assistant Professor, Dept. of Commerce, The Graduate School College for Women,
Jamshedpur for a session on "Managing Statistical data" and other applications of data in the
real world. The workshop also included a hands-on practical session facilitated by Dr. Rajesh
Kumar Rana, Faculty, XITE College, focusing on imparting fundamental knowledge of Excel
and descriptive and inferential analysis. Apart from these departmental activities, the students
also participated in activities and competitions organized by various cells and clubs of the
college such as the community service club, the literary club, the sports club, the Institution’s
Innovation Council, the anti-sexual harassment cell, etc. Ms. Shreya Pathak of
B.A.EconomicsSemester 2 won third place in the picture perception and discussion
competition organized by the Literary Club. Mr. Anil Jojowar and Ms. Rose Nishika Soy won
prizes in multiple categories in the annual sports. The Departmental faculty keeps themselves
constantly updated inorder to teach more effectively. This year the faculty was awarded
multiple certifications through Faculty development Programs and training workshops. Dr.
Rana completed a 3-day workshop on “Use of tools in research Writing”, a 1-week training
workshop on “Research methodology and Statistical Analysis”, a 3-months NPTEL course on
“Introduction to Econometrics” and a 3 months NPTEL course on “Applied Econometrics”.
Dr. RadhaMahali completed a one month induction program of the UGC and a 3 months
NPTEL course on “Introduction to Econometrics”. Dr. Sanchita G. Chowdhury completed a 3
months NPTEL course on “Health Economics”.
