Annual Magazine The Editor's
Urban Wilderness
Dear Readers
Once again pen in hand, a flood of memories burst through the reservoir of an editor's mind. I
gradually plunge through the deep and pick up pearls of wisdom to educate myself from the many
articles that lie scattered on my table.
Just a few years ago, this very same college campus was known as “Forest Land”-- lush and green
with saplings and trees of a fast growing variety …..But today that greenery has given way to the
magnificent edifice of the XITE College and the Xavier School. The dark and beautiful silhouette of
these tall buildings outline the western sky in the state of Jharkhand, and that readers is a step
towards the theme “Urban Wilderness”……
Now as we strive to make good, the best of the urban wilderness at our disposal, we have decided to
indulge and embrace 'education' and move on ….
Scanning through the articles , stories, sketches , poems and what not, I try to maintain my
composure like a trained soldier, as I sift through this so called literary mess and bring some order
through all the chaos surrounding me; I feel like a 'pukka' POLTICIAN strategically planning for the
coming elections.
Browsing through the write-ups of the student fraternity, I realise some are brilliantly chosen cut-
and- paste jobs ,while others are skillfully paraphrased versions and thank God some are original
and creative . Editing is an exciting, yet risky and dangerous task. You are weaving in and out with a
pen in the hand and this is no less skillful than a gladiator wielding his sword in a den of lions ____ all
hail to the “Impact of Urban Wilderness“, and look at the wonderful and exciting mess I have landed
into .
However, come what may, I must admit “Chimes'19” has a charm and magic of its own. The spirit of
our budding student writers is praise worthy and the timely pitching in of our faculty's snippets and
articles is like the icing on the cake. But all said and done we stand to conquer , and in our endeavour
we promise to keep the pulse and heart beat of XITE ----'Chimes', always throbbing, with the College
dispersing quality education at its pinnacle glory …
And of course there are bound to be discrepancies that may have found its way into print and for
such lapses, I am solely responsible.
In God we trust!
With warm regards, best wishes and may God bless you all!
Sincerely
Anthony G. Castleton
