I am glad to know that Xavier Institute for Tribal Education (XITE) is bringing out its annual Magazine
“Xavier Chimes 2019” with the theme “The Impact of Urban Wilderness”. I congratulate the students,
faculty and management of XITE for the praiseworthy achievements in the university exams. The
results of the exams show that XITE is rendering excellent educational service to the students. I was
also pleasantly surprised to know that even though the Institute has a small number of students,
four of them have been selected in the university team for inter university basketball and badminton
          tournaments.

The theme chosen for the present magazine is very relevant in our era of rat race for prosperity by the
rich and the powerful. This invites us to reflect seriously on the peripheral living of many unfortunate
and marginalized people who have to struggle day in and day out for the basic necessities of life. It is
a fact that the 'urban wilderness' undoubtedly led to emotional traumas and social disturbances.
Many years ago I had seen the humble origin of XITE. Now I am proud to note that it has come to age
and has matured; and through its integrated approach and educational contribution it is opening up
the bright horizon of hope for students at large. I am also glad to know that the original ethos of
uplifting the tribal students is being preserved and sought after.
My prayers and best wishes for the sta and the students
          God Bless you all
