Big data analytics has several uses in the field of research, customer service, sales and marketing,
healthcare, public welfare etc. It helps them in tackling business problems by using advanced
technology for data analysis as it makes it possible to sort, store and understand data sets which
were earlier unmanageable.
The Indian government has understood the value of big data in the coming years and has already
formulated a 'big data management policy' launched by Comptroller and Auditor General of India Xavier Chimes
(CAG). The objective of this policy is to manage the tremendous volumes of data that is generated by
dierent state and central government departments. The Indian economy is witnessing a sea of
transformational changes when it comes to technology and its adoption.
The Big Data Analytics market in India is currently valued at $2 Billion and is expected to grow at a
CAGR of 26 percent reaching approximately $16 Billion by 2025, making India's share approximately
32 percent in the overall global market.
In conclusion, with India being amongst the top 5 social media and mobile consumers in the world,
generation of vast amount of data is indispensable. In the light of approx. 2.9 zeta bytes of data
generation by the year 2020, Big Data analytics would synthesize into a booming market providing
abundant opportunities to firms and investors wanting to explore this space.
Technologies will get upgraded but you cannot wait for them as it is a continuous process. Already,
India ranks second highest in internet usage in the world. This means that with the expected growth,
analytics will be a very exciting career field for Indians to work in. So if you are asking if Big Data is a
good career path; well, if you are really passionate about it, there can't be a better option.
