4.2. National Conference

Introduction: The National Conference served as a flagship event for the Department of
English, bringing together academicians, researchers, and students to engage in
interdisciplinary dialogue. The conference explored contemporary issues, fostering a platform
for scholarly exchange and intellectual growth.
Day 1 Highlights:
Inaugural Program: The event commenced with the lighting of the lamp and a welcome
address by Dr. Fr. Mukti Clarence SJ. Prof. Akinchan Xaxa provided an overview of the
conference, while the Guest of Honor, Dr. Rupa Sarkar, highlighted the role of research in
addressing modern challenges.
Technical Sessions: Presentations covered diverse topics such as gender studies, language
evolution, and tribal traditions. A robust Q&A session followed, fostering academic discussion.
Valedictory Program: Reflections from participants underscored the conference’s enriching
nature. Certificates were distributed to participants, and a farewell tea concluded the day.
Day 2 Highlights:
Online Paper Presentations: Organized into two tracks, chaired by eminent academicians.
Topics included digital identity, mental health, environmental degradation, and gender studies.
Feedback Mechanism: Participants appreciated the diversity of topics and suggested more
interactive sessions for future events.
Outcome: The conference successfully fostered interdisciplinary collaboration, providing
valuable insights into emerging academic and societal challenges. It reinforced the
department’s role as a hub for intellectual exchange.
4.3. Mentorship Program: "PeerConnect – Guiding Growth Together"
Duration: Academic Year 2024
Introduction: The PeerConnect mentorship program was launched to create a supportive
learning environment by pairing final-year students with juniors for academic and personal
guidance. The program aimed to develop leadership skills among mentors while providing
mentees with valuable support in academics and career planning.
