Are You Trapped?

When you see changes within yourself,
                                             Pride fills your chest
Finally break through chain leaving past behind
                                         Emerging from the shadows.
But suddenly, a tightness grips your heart.
Are you sure you’re not trapped?
                                             Are you truly free?

A thought always circles in your mind,
On repeat, like a broken tap recorder,
Siphoning every ounce of your strength
Trying so much to silence it, fix it,
                                          But that noise never fades.
Do you think you’re trapped ?
Do you think it can be controlled ?

So desperate to calm your restless mind,
                                     Distracting yourself, again and again,
But the weight of your own feelings
                                           Drains the life from you.
                                            And now you wonder
Am I truly free from myself?
                                             Am I still trapped ?

But even if I am trapped,
There will be a key to set me free.
Even in the darkest night of my life.
Still there will be a tiny light to guide me
And once I find that light,
I will break these chains And
                                        Free myself from the darkness
                                                I will be free
