THE INDIAN Praful V. Tigga
MINDSET B.Com 1st Year
“I am no ordinary person”, yes you heard me right, loud and clear and I own super power as well. Annual Magazine
Somewhere, I can initiate a change within myself. Let these changes consist of the people's mindset. All I
want is my mother, my sister, my daughter, my female friends and all the women around me to be safe and
sound in the streets of India.
It is probably a taboo or an inappropriate subject which is not easily talked about in the present scenario. The
past few months were a dark period for India. Be it the Nirbhaya rape case or the 27 year old veterinarian's
case. Where is this rapist culture evolving in our country? Is it the clothes of the women, or the late night
partying of the women or the loneliness of the women in the streets which makes her a victim of this rapist. If
you even consider a single mentioned view from above then, I'm very sorry to say you too nurture a rapist
mentality inside you.
Why should a woman be judged by her attire or her friendliness or even her loneliness? It's high time for us
'men' to stand up for the women around us. Let's help them to be safe. Let's change the way we think of them.
Let's take a stand to make a benchmark in the Indian environment, culture and mentality, so that every rape
victim gets justice quickly and easily.
I know it's hard but if we work as a team together, specially the youth, we can make a difference and change
our nation as well. Let's make this country a better and safer place from the vulnerable one it is today. We can
if we believe, that there resides a superpower within us, and with that thought and determination we can
conquer rape and its aftermath.
