careers aligned with their degrees. This mismatch stems from shifting job market demands
and the rise of gig economies. The World Economic Forum (WEF) estimates that 85 million
jobs will be displaced by automation by 2025, but 97 million new roles will emerge,
primarily in data analysis, artificial intelligence, and green technologies.

Navigating these changes requires students to embrace lifelong learning and adapt their skill sets.
Personality Hurdles and Dispositions
The transition from adolescence to adulthood is a challenging phase marked by identity crises,
mental health struggles, and the need for self-discovery. According to a report by inequality.org,
students from underprivileged backgrounds face additional hurdles, such as imposter syndrome
and systemic biases. The American College Health Association’s National College Health
Assessment (2023) found that over 60% of students experience overwhelming anxiety, and 40%
report symptoms of depression.
Colleges must enhance access to mental health resources and create inclusive environments that
celebrate diversity and individuality.
Technology-Led Disruptions
Technology is both a boon and a bane for today’s students. While digital tools have democratized
access to education, they also create new forms of inequity. A report by Visual Capitalist
highlights the digital divide—only 53% of students in low-income countries have access to
reliable internet, compared to 97% in high-income nations.
Moreover, the rise of generative AI tools like ChatGPT has sparked debates about academic
integrity and the role of human creativity. A balanced approach is needed to harness these tools
for learning while mitigating potential drawbacks.
